I have always enjoyed thinking in an abstract yet strictly analytical way. However, during my high school studies, I knew of only a few fields that applied a way of reasoning that was so natural to me. Therefore, when choosing my first university, I chose the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University. During my studies there, I explored several different subfields. Although my main focus was education, I also got a taste of research in the laboratories of chemical physics and physics of materials. However, working in the lab did not captivate me as much as I had hoped, so I kept looking for other paths to pursue in my academic and professional journey.

At that time, I decided to study law, a field that had always attracted me with its structure, predictability, and wide range of practical applications. Alongside my master’s studies at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, I enrolled at the Faculty of Law at Charles University. In my very first year there, I was captivated by the courses offered by the Department of Economics and Empirical Legal Studies — the opportunity to apply an analytical approach to understanding the society around us was truly exciting. With enthusiasm, I joined the department’s projects as a research assistant, where I learned the fundamentals of data analysis and academic writing.
After earning my master’s degree at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, I was certain that I wanted to stay in academia a little longer and pursue research in one of my fields. When I heard about the Czech-American PhD program in Economics and Econometrics at CERGE-EI, I did not have to search further — it felt like the curriculum was tailored to me.

And so, in September 2022, I became a PhD student. At CERGE-EI, I was welcomed by a fantastic international community of classmates and professors — rising and already shining stars in the field of economics. During my first two years, I explored various subfields of the discipline, with behavioral economics, information economics, and health economics capturing my interest the most.
Currently, I am working on my own research dealing with the topic of news demand, teaching, and helping the faculty members with their projects. My main advisor is Filip Matějka.
